What to do right after an accident
- Safety first — get off the road and assess yourself and others.
- For serious symptoms, call 1669 (Thailand’s medical emergency line) — loss of consciousness, a hard blow to the head, heavy bleeding that won’t stop, difficulty breathing, or a suspected fracture means go to a hospital emergency room. Don’t wait.
- Collect the vehicle’s details — photograph the license plate and tax sticker, and ask the owner (or the rental shop) for a copy of the Por Ror Bor policy and vehicle registration.
- Police report if another party was involved — a police daily report smooths the claim in multi-party cases. For a simple solo fall, it’s usually not needed.
- Get treated promptly — road rash and accident wounds should be properly cleaned and dressed as soon as possible to prevent infection, which is a real risk in a tropical climate.
